tri bike v road bike comfort

Message posted by: Bob C.

Sorry to have been so slow off the mark, but I now know the difference between the two types of bike. With a conventional road bike where you hold the bars with your hands, you have your whole arm to absorb the road bumps. On the aero bars you don’t because all the bumps go through the elbow. You have no wrists or elbow to absorb the bumps.

So comfort is not so much the riding position as the state of the road. For no good reason I had always thought that comfort in the context of the general debate was about bike fit. It is less of an issue than road surface.

Is that the same experience for others?
