foot pain

Message posted by: Jeremy M.

The last three weekends during my long run, I’ve started developing pain on the top of my foot. It starts up between 10 and 15 miles in and I end up adjusting my form slightly to get through to the end. It hurts for a couple of days but I can make it through my weekday shorter runs no problem.

The pain is really excruciating when I bend my toes up or point them down. It seems to be along the bones that run from the toes (not the big guy; just his four friends) up to the middle of the foot close to the top of the arch.

When I missed a marathon in December due to the flu I decided to take the opportunity to tweak the running form to more of a fore-foot strike. I got some tips from a buddy who had some training on the Pose style. It has definitely helped some knee pain that I had been experiencing, but I wonder if it is causing the pain in my foot.

I plan on getting to a doc next week but was curious to know if anyone here has experienced anything similar and might have some suggestions?
