first tri season

This season was my frist time ever competing in triathlons, or any endurance event for that matter. Completing my first Tri was among one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Although it was a minor sprint triathlon it still took everything I had. Two summers ago I was going through a stressful time and began running daily. Soon I started running longer and longer. I realized I had pretty decent stamina and thought about what I could do with this whole endurance thing. One night I was searching the computer for endurance events and triathlons came up. I looked into it and began to swim and bike along with my running. I’ve never known anyone personally that has competed in a triathlon so I lacked advise and guidance. I basically just ran, swam, and biked; along with minor weight training. I did two sprint triathlons in Maine and two running events (10k and a 15k) I placed in the top half in all of them. Before transforming into an endurance athlete I was strictly anaero
bic. College football player who wrestled and played lacrosse in HS as well. XC, track, swimming, and biking were all completely new to me. I was rewarding to do something new and train to get better at it (i worked my butt off in training too) While working full-time building chimneys it was difficult to find the time to devote to training… so it turned into very early morning, and late nights. However all of my devoted time was rewarded upon finishing my first triathlon. I have definatly found what I’ve been looking for and cant wait for next season! Tri for life!
