12 days away and hit a road bump..

First marathon is a week from this coming Sunday and I’ve started developing a knee problem. On thanksgiving, I had to give up after 1/2 a mile after bad knee pain (felt like the bones rubbing together on the inside of my knee by the knee cap). There was no pain walking home, but a jog or run would be very painful.

Then on Saturday, I was 5 miles into a run and the same thing happened. I was the same distance away from my car so I had to try and at least get back there. After a couple of start/stops, the pain went away when I concentrated on landing on the balls of my feet (I am normally a midfoot striker I think). I ended up being okay to finish the 12 miles.

This morning it was okay, but it felt like it was on the verge the entire run.

From what I looked up, it kind of sounds like runners knee? I do not overpronate and have been using the same running shoes for 10 years. (uhh, same model… new shoes…).

Anyone have any experiences like this? Starting to think that I may need to just rest until the race, but I’m afraid of getting tight. I would really appreciate any thoughts.
