how to interpret drastic change in lthr?

Message posted by: Peter L.

My Lactate Threshold Heart Rate for running and biking has gone up around 10 beats compared to last season. I took the tests after 6 weeks or so of off-season training, so I guess I was very well rested. The bike test was a 40 mins all out on a spinning bike (LTHR 171 up from last year’s 161) and the run was 20 mins all out on a tread mill (LTHR 168 up from 161). I am 40 years, have been training at reasonably high levels for many years (half IM around 4h22).

Any advice on how I should interpret this change, and how I can use it in my training? Many thanks. Peter
