im bike advice

Message posted by: Teri d.

I just finished my second century ride this year. I wanted to do it on a hot day since my IM will most likely be pretty warm (thanks Ryan B. for posting about warm weather workouts) and I think 85 degrees was good for training. I felt as if I had some legs left when I was done and was pretty satisfied with the fueling, pace, etc. My question is “Should I do another 100 mile ride or further before my IM on August 1st?” I am doing a challenging half iron next weekend (hot weather, hilly) so I would need to do the 100 miler about 2.5 weeks before the IM. At the age of 49, I don’t recover from long workouts as quickly as I use to. So do I need another 100 miler before the IM or should I just to ease into the taper stage?
