Thanks to everyone who recommended Infinit customized nutrition products….after sampling ad nauseum (literally) to find the best source of nutrition/hydration for IM day, we have a winner!! Now that I have something with the perfect mix of calories and nutrients for race day, that’s one less thing to worry about. The orange flavor is great; not overpowering (set flavor intensity to “medium”), and sits very well in the stomach…hard to believe it has all the calories, sodium, etc. I need without going down the gullet tasting like motor oil.
IM training going well. I’m almost thru the “build” stage and feeling a bit fatigued, but I guess that’s the point. Gotta work on my diet, that still sucks. Have lost 8 lbs, however (where’s the damn weight loss contest when I need it?) Swimming feels pretty easy, but damn am I slow. Going to a Total Immersion workshop the first weekend in Sept (if it doesn’t get cancelled) and hopefully will find my silver bullet. It’s in Clermont, where my race is, so I plan on riding part of the bike course as well. Biking 100mi is no problem, of course I still need to get some hill work in as the course is hilly. Run…I can survive, with no expectations beyond a 50/50 run/walk strategy.
The increased time and energy my training plan is taking has cut into family and work commitments a bit, but I’m blessed with a very understanding wife and business partner. I’m looking forward to a great day but I don’t know how many more times I could go thru all this again. Think I might be a “one and done” at the IM distance.
I know several of us have Iron distance races coming up in the fall…how is everyone else doing? any thoughts/suggestions/vents????
