I’m contemplating taking this stuff to nourish my muscles. However, I’m concerned about my body having to burn more calories. I found it is more popular among weight lifters.
Also, triathlon training has not been producing the weight loss results I thought it would and I don’t want to bulk up as a result. By the way, I’m going by how clothes fit. I have not lost any inches which drives me crazy because I’m in better shape than ever. I have an 18-month-old son, but, for crying out loud, what gives?
I appreciate any input.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is a brick when it comes to running and cycling?

I still have not heard what happened to this guy. He was doing the Oly triathlon on Sunday. The half iron was on Saturday, I was there doing the half marathon.

Can a clean chain and cassetts make that big of a difference in speed? I mean I keep mine sorta clean, but yesterday I really cleaned them and my ride seemed easier/faster this morning. Just curious, and I was riding on dead legs from the long ride on Sunday and no sleep last night.

Not sure if anyone has had this problem, but went for a long ride yesterday and managed to get my tires covered in tar. Cant seem to get it off. Dont want to use a strong solvent as it may wreck the tires. Anyone have suggestions?

Ok, I searched this before posting but I didn’t see a thread about it so I apologize in advance if this has already been beat to death…
I was wondering about the conversion from lap swimming to open water swimming. When I swam competitively, 66 laps = 1 mile. Is this a good measurement for open water swimming?

My goal is to complete a 70.3 next year. I’d like to do the Orlando race b/c my wife has family there. I’ve been checking the website each morning to see if registration has opened b/c I know these fill up quick. Do any of you Floridians know the day it’ll open, how quickly it fills, or any tips on how I can ensure a spot? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

With my current 8-4 job ive been trying to formulate a good schedule. All ive been able to come u with is a 3-4 am wake up followed by run, swim at the hotel pool, maybe some leg workouts with weights in the gym etc. After work i finish off with core and maybe a standstill bike ride. After doing this for a few weeks im getting burnt out. Posting from work today I feel tired, sore and my will to do work at work is not high. Anyone else facing a situation similiar to this. Full time job while trying to workout at a pace close to pro? Maybe I should move with my parents again…
Any tips I would appreciate.
p.s I stand at work for 90% of my shift.

My longest race thus far. A 2K swim (1.24 miles), 60K ride (37.3 miles), and a 15 K run (9.3). Was not sure whether to race or not, as my IT band is still hurting bad. Made the decision the night before to go ahead and just jog the run. It was a beautiful morning. Mid 70’s and a little overcast. The lake was calm, just perfect race conditions overall. This event is organized by Sommer Sports (company out of Florida). These guys do an excellent job. The only thing is that their marketing wasn’t the greatest, which resulted in a low turnout.(Also Tupper Lake was this weekend, lot of triathletes use that race as a warm up for IMLP). I started on the outside in the swim. Got in a rhythm right from the start and before I knew it the lap was over….the second loop I pushed a little harder and still felt very comfortable. Got caught in the weeds a few times, no wetsuit issues, no goggle issues, what a difference a week makes…haha…Swimming time: 35:11
T1: The family was standing next to the transition area. My three year old got so excited seeing Dad that she crawled under the barrier and ran up to me. After posing for a pic and chasing her around in the transition area I finally started the bike after a whopping 3:07…Bike: Felt good for the first 20 miles or so. Pretty flat course and no wind. Maintained about a 20-21 mph pace. the last 20 miles my IT band started to act up. Not to painful but I already started to worry about the run….I finished the bike in 1:42. T2 went ok…stretched the IT band a little, tome 1:47…..The run: two loops of 7.5 K…started jogging thru the pain right from the start. Thought about stopping a few times but didn’t. Long story short…didn’t walk but stopped a few times at the water/koolAid stations. Finished the run in 1:24 (9:00 min. p) My overall time was: 3:51:42….Even got a plaque for my age group….(I guess even guys like me can find a race where they might win something….lol
)…the volunteers were great and I spend some time chatting with them after the race. Also got to meet two of the USAT officials. Very nice people. Overall a great experience, great race. Hope to do that one again next year. This week I will be hobbling around the house, as I can get up or down the stairs….Not easy getting old! Have a great race season all you ontriers. Cayuga Lake is next for me (aug.3) Untill then….happy training!

Hi Everyone,
Today I did a run that was 2hrs 15min. I got an upset stomach after the run. About 2 weeks ago I did a half ironman race and had the same issues. Can anyone tell me what they do for intake on the longer runs / rides / races that has helped them? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
