I am alive!

Well – I’m not going to be able to make the Nashville Triathlon – simply because I can’t afford to keep going back and forth all the time. My checkbook and business needs more attention, and travel takes away from that.

However, I am signed up for the Nemo Triathlon in Kirksville, MO on Sept. 10, and training started today.

So – that’s really close, right? Will I be ready? Probably not as ready as I should be, but I’m going to try it. I have an awesome training partner, and she is going to help push me (she’s mega-athletic) – so we’ll give it a shot.

The distances – 750m swim, 1200m swim, 18 mile bike, 5 mile run.

Ugh.

I better get on it. I’ve cleaned up my diet considerably, and will continue that.

So – today being my first day back ‘for real’ I took it kind of easy – just to see what my body felt like.

I did 30 minutes on the bike, heavy hills, level 15 – which was no big deal other than my headphones weren’t working since it was boring. All the bike training has really helped out there. Then, I got on the treadmill for a brisk mile walk (weak, I know, but we’re running in the morning) – then 500m of swimming.

All in all, I felt OK. Kind of weak, but not too bad. Tommorrow will probably be worse, and it will probably continue to get worse until next week, when things start to pick up.
