I think a few of us are 100% in now. I’m even more excited!
In the pool today, I managed to knock almost a minute off my 400m time, finishing up in 10:26. Of course, I’ve already signed up in the 12:30 slot for the race so I’ll either have to pass, or be doing some drafting (which is legal in the swim portion, btw.)
Keohan and I are hitting the bike portion of the race again Saturday morning. I’m hoping/praying that the new bike leads to a better time.

Well I just registered for the race. It cost a total of 58.01, because of some processing fee that I didn’t know about. Anyhow I’m in for a swim time of 10:30. Pat told me to go for 12 when I said 10, so I did a happy medium. I didn’t want to push too far back since I have done it in 9 or less, but I took his advice and added a few due to the open water swim.
Yesterday I lifted and was spent afterwards, but I went ahead and swam for around 15 minutes. Today I am going to go run, bike, swim, and then I have a meeting for work, and then I have a club tennis team meeting. Yes, you heard right I’m going MSU’s new club tennis team where we will compete against other colleges. Lookout Serena Williams, here’s comes LJ Agassi.
See you at the finish line!

To the bright sunshine! Yes!
The clouds are gone, so, I won’t have to sludge through any more time on the elliptical machines or treadmills (like last night) than I have to. I took it a little easy last night, because my back and legs were still a bit sore, so the elliptical was the way to go.
I’m wondering why my back was sore - I’m thinking maybe the lack of warm up on Sunday and running in the cooler wet air? Who knows.
Tonight is going to be awesome - swimming with Keohan, then hopefully a few laps around the park on foot or bike (or both).

The weather today sucks. So, it’s looking like I’ll be indoors on a bike or treadmill tonight. Maybe tommorrow we can get outside after the traditional swim, and maybe run a lap and bike 5-6 (so, bring your bike Keohan).
I have some happy news (for me, anyway)…after a little over 3 months of work, I am 1 pound away from joining the -20 pound club. I’m pretty excited about that. Just about 23 more to go, and I’ll be right where I’m supposed to be.
I’m thinking that since this is a long weekend, and I’m most likely going to be hanging out in Nashville without my girlfriend, I’m going to run the entire (modified) version of the race on Saturday - 400m in the pool, 2 mile run, 15 mile bike, 2 mile run.
I’ll let you know how it goes - since I’m planning to hit it hard every day between now and then, it may be a little tough.

to work that is! Well it felt like swimming, but in all actuallity I haven’t swam since last Friday. I take that back Heax and I went swimming at 4 in the morning on Friday night and it was an openwater swim in the lake, haha.
Back to training! Yesterday I ran for 35 minutes on the track and then was going to use a stationary bike, but they were all taken in the gym so I signed up for the 6pm spinning class. First time I had taken a spinning class in a while, and boy I sweat out a lot of bourbon on that bike. Before I took the spinning class and after my run, I played one game of fullcourt ball. We were up 11-4 playing to 15 and still lost. We had Shrek on my team and everytime we tried to get it downlow to him, he would fumble the ball around and lose it. I only got 2 shots off the whole game, I scored the first basket of the game and then they “d” me up and I got blocked on my 2nd shot and the rest of the game I just played d and tried to get folks open.
Today I want to do my lifting routine, month 2 of HGM and then go hit the pool for 30 minutes. Then at 8 I’m going to watch the Racer b-ball team scrimmage and see what we are going to have this year.
That’s all folks!

After driving from Memphis on Friday, I got my hair cut at Murray. Then, went and attempted the whole thing at the Wellness Center with Lil John. Wow! That was the first time I did the swimming. Not because I thought it would be easy. The other way around. I knew that it would be the hardest thing, and attempted to just get through it. Well, needless to say that I’m going to probably be swimming everyday from now on.
The only way I can explain the way I felt is that I didn’t eat before and I’ve been taking it easy for the past 3 weeks. Not doing nothing, but not kicking it hard. I had ZERO energy. I felt like I was going to die if I went another step. I’ve never felt like that during all my training.
Take it from me that if you take any more time off, YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THIS. From today until September, I will have to kick it in ultimate gear now. We still have time to do some fine tuning. Let me tell you that when I was eating very well, I did have more energy for training. That’s such an important part of training. I don’t know if anyone else has kind of dropped a little off the diet, but it’s so important. Also, the more time you take off, you will have to do twice as much to get that back. So, if anyone else is in my boat, we still have time. I’m glad that we did that this past weekend, because it made me realize that I wasn’t as ready as I thought I was.
I guess that’s the fun of this thing. It’s not something you can just put a little effort into and expect to do well. This is going to be fun actually. Remember, Rocky gave up and quit while Adrian was in the hospital. That’s half the fun….. training your ass off and actually putting your body through hell. THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN!!

Alright an update for everyone for my past few days. Well Friday I did do the whole tri before heading to the wedding rehearsal dinner. Heax tried to finish it all and did well. Well I started swimming with Heax at like 12:41 and finished the swim at around 12:51 and waited on Heax to realize swimming isn’t easy (haha). Then we headed upstairs for the first 1.5 miles. I completed it and then jumped on a bike with just a sip of water and finished the 13 miles and then finished with the last 1.5 miles. All of this was completed by like 2pm so it was around a 1 hour 20 minute triathlon time. I’ll let Heax update you with his stuff later on.
Saturday I woke up at 8 am after going to bed at like 5 am and after a night of drinking lots of wine and going skinny dipping at 4 in the morning. At 8 I decided to run the wilderness trails at Pennyrile State Resort Park. It was a fun, but rough run since I was probably still drunk. It was fun because it was on wooded trails with the whole roots, gravel and stuff around a lake. I probably ran for 3 miles based on the time it took and I know one of the trails was 1.8 miles according to the map. Then the rest of the day Saturday we prepared for the wedding and then was off to the wedding. After the wedding we had 1 keg, only 6 bottles of wine left since we drank most of them Friday night, and then 16 bottles of Jim Black label, which did us in. Another long night and a night of licking/kissing wedding cake off of random girl, haha. So I guess that tells you that I ate and drank bad all weekend, but hey the calories from the cake was worth it : ).
Sunday I slept all day after getting home. So what can I say the next 3 weeks are going to be hardcore food and working out. Today I’m going to run and bike and not swim, because I need to sweat about 20 lbs of water weight out, then I’ll get back in the water tomorrow after lifting.
Oh yeah, the cake girl is from Nashville so if I can track her down then I may be staying the night in Nashville after the triathlon because I want to dance with her again ; - ) ! haha.

My plan for today was to head to the park again, get some big time running in, and do about 15 miles on my bike. Because of the crappy weather all afternoon, I only managed to get about 3 miles in running (in the freaking rain) and about 5 miles on the bike before the thunder started, and the paths were gushing with water, making my new smooth tires pretty treacherous.
It was kind of fun though. There’s going to be a little work to make up this week, and I fear it will all be indoors, since Nashville is under an inland tropical storm warning most of the day tommorrow and tuesday.
Thanks Katrina.
All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Elder Bittel and his wife down in Louisiana - I just talked to him, and things are looking a little intense right now. Thank goodness they’re not in the New Orleans area, but they’re still close enough to be in a fair amount of danger.

So, I scratched my plans to swim/run today, because I HAD to take the new bike out for a ride. I can’t even begin to describe the difference. It was amazing. I was able to pedal up hills easily, and used about 60% of the effort I used to on the flats to get rolling FAST.
So fast, in fact, I seriously almost ran over some people. It rocked.
I’m not really sure how far I went, I know I rode for about 2 hours at a nice pace - so, I’m guessing it was over 20 miles. I know it was at least 17, because that’s how many laps I made it around the park.
And, I have to say, it was nice to notice people admiring the “stealth” bike
It was worth every penny.
